Who we are
The University of Queensland School of Dentistry is a major oral health care facility in Queensland. We have 100 dental chairs at our Turbot Street facility in the central business district of Brisbane. Our students undertake well over 50,000 patient appointments in a year. Undergraduate students study and train for five years to become a dentist or three years to become an oral health therapist. Postgraduate students are qualified dentists studying to become dental specialists.
Student clinics are the means by which we provide a first-class dental education to our students. Each student is required to treat a number of patients with a range of dental needs. All work is supervised by registered dentists and specialists who have an academic appointment with the University. We operate during the University’s teaching semester times via a strict assessment and appointment system.
All patients are welcome for assessment to determine if they meet our teaching and education criteria. Most patients do meet our criteria. The fees we levy are determined by the difficulty of the procedure and the experience of the clinicians.
We also offer General Dental and Specialist Care in our University Private Practice (this treatment by the dentists at the school will usually allow health and rebates to be claimed).
